Emmanuel Lutheran Church
DIRECTOR OF FAITH FORMATION
Salaried Support Staff Position


POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Faith Formation provides the resources necessary for families of all ages in their personal, relational and ACCOUNTABILITY
•    The Director of Faith Formation will report directly to the Senior Pastor
•    The Director of Faith Formation will attend regular staff meetings.
•    The Director will meet occasionally with Parish Education, Youth, Congregational Life or Membership and Worship committees depending on the particular project being worked on at the time.
•    The Director will complete a six month probationary period at which time his/her progress will be reviewed by the Management Division.
•    The Director will be encouraged to pursue continuing education/workshop opportunities with a stipend to be provided by Church Council

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
•    The Director will work a minimum of 20 hours a week (not to include worship
attendance), report to the Senior Pastor on a weekly basis and write a report for
Church Council on a monthly basis.
•    The Director will strive to provide programming that enriches the spiritual vitality of this congregation.  
•    The Director will empower and coordinate adults, youth and children to engage        jointly in study, service and outreach in the name of Jesus.

COMPENSATION                                            
•    The Director of Faith Formation will be a salaried position with an additional annual stipend for continuing education/workshops. It is recognized that because this position is flexible by nature and compensation is provided on a salaried basis, specific holiday, sick day, or vacation provisions are not required. This salary is not to include benefits.

THE CONGREGATION WILL:
•    Support and cooperate with the work of the Director
•    Review needs for this position on an annual basis
•    Provide a budget for needed materials
spiritual development throughout life. The Director of Faith Formation understands that spiritual development is an on-going process in the life of a Christian from birth to death and is not limited to education alone, but rather a journey of heart, mind and soul that moves a person and a church to be vital instruments of God’s work in the world. The Director will lay the foundation for strong, invigorating and faith enriching ministries to families of all ages.  The Director will develop new ministry and expand existing programs to all types of families, utilizing the best and most current insights and resources.  The programs coming from the Director should support current programs at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and reinforce activities passed down through the synod relating to the church calendar year. All programming should have at its core the idea of shaping a more spiritually vital individual, family and church life.    This position is open to members and non-members of Emmanuel.                             

QUALIFICATIONS
•    A college degree is preferred or commensurate experience.    
•    Must be a Christian familiar with Emmanuel’s mission, charter and Constitution.     
•    Should attend worship at Emmanuel on a regular basis.
•    Must be self-motivated with strong collaborative, interpersonal and organizational skills.
•    Must be able to work flexible hours.
•    Must have a strong commitment to faith development in all stages of life and have a vision to fulfill that need for faith formation and spiritual vitality among the people of Emmanuel.
