Senior Choir and Bell Choir -
Another Choir season is about to begin! Come one come all. If you love
music, making a joyful noise, and enjoy fellowship with others, the
choir loft is the place for you! We purchased some new anthems this
summer for the coming year including a new Christmas Cantata with a
learning CD. The Bell Choir is also ready to begin with new ringers welcome. We also have some new music coming. If interested, please let Ila Jeanne know. Please prayerfully consider joining one of our choirs. Senior Choir practice begins Thursday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m. Bell Choir practice begins Thursday, September 16 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Thanks, Tom & Ila Our prayers and sympathy are with the family and friends of Richard Lantz. Volunteers Needed - Parish Education is planning something special for kids 2 years to 8th grade on Rally Day, September 12. We are looking for congregational members to portray a character of the bible and try to have the kids guess the character. The member can dress the part, give “hints” thru actions or words, or both. Please contact Shane Gibson if you are willing and able to help. I will assign you a character with a bio if that will help spur to you to help. Anniversary Dates - Youth and Family Ministry wants to celebrate the union of those couples who have been married 25 years or more! If you will be married 25 years or more as of 2010, please e-mail your names and your anniversary date to Angela McCoy at: angeladfm@sbcglobal.net It’s Garden Time! A table is set up in the narthex where you can drop off any extra produce from your garden. Members are welcome to help themselves and take home anything they would like for their own use. On Monday, what is remaining will be taken to the Salem Community Pantry. So, if your garden yields more than you can use, please consider sharing with your fellow church members and the community. Harvest Home is just around the corner! You can start bringing in non-perishable food items anytime. We will use them to decorate for Harvest Home weekend, and then take them to the Salem Community Pantry. Thank you for sharing your blessings! Youth & Family Ministry Basket Raffle – You may find a list of items to donate for the raffle on the pink slips on the tables near the entrances of the church. Items will be collected through September, tickets for the baskets will be sold in October and the baskets will be raffled off the first week of November. Fellowship Trip - On Thursday, September 30, Youth and Family Ministry and Congregational Life will be sponsoring a Fellowship Trip to the Museum of Ceramics in East Liverpool. We will take a guided tour and then visit and the gift shop. We will have lunch at a restaurant called “Doc Sees” which serves sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts. We will meet at the Education Building at approximately 8:45 a.m. and return at approximately 3:00 p.m. The cost for the trip is $12.00 and includes admission to the museum and transportation. Lunch is on your own at Doc Sees. Please see the sign-up sheet in the narthex or contact Angela McCoy with any questions or concerns: (234) 567-4148. Tutoring will resume on Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. We will be meeting on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. If you are interested in signing your child up for tutoring (homework help, reading and math skill practice, etc.) or would be interested in an after-school program, please contact Angela McCoy for more details! The tutoring program is working with Salem Schools and we may need more volunteers starting in the fall. We also are looking to eventually expand to having an after-school program. If anyone is interested in volunteering with the tutoring program or a future after-school program, please contact Angela McCoy at (234) 567-4148.
