The Nominating Committee would like to announce that there will be 5 council positions to fill at the end of this year. SERVICE MINISTRY Poinsettias - This year we are offering a choice of large & small poinsettias. The large ones will be used to decorate the altar area and need to remain at the church through Dec. 26 before they can be taken. If you are ordering a plant to be sent to a shut-in, please order a small one. The small plants for the shut-ins will be in the Narthex on a poinsettia tree. They will be tagged with names & addresses. You are invited to help deliver the plants this year by taking a plant with a name on it the weekend of Dec. 18 & 19 – so that our shut-ins may enjoy them for Christmas. We appreciate your help & so will the recipients! Prices this year are: 6 1/2” pot - $6.50 4” pot - $3.00. Orders should be in to the church office by Sunday, November 28. Order envelopes may be found on the tables near the entrances to the church. COMMUNITY EVENTS AND INFORMATION CWU – Church Women United will meet on Monday, November 22 at Emmanuel’s Education Building. The speaker will be Elizabeth Thatcher on “The Storybook Museum.” Dessert is at 1:00 p.m. and the meeting is at 1:30 p.m. All the ladies of the church are invited to attend! The Salem Community Pantry is looking for a person to fill the role of Pantry Coordinator. This is a volunteer position involving a minimum of ten hours a week. The right person will have a passion for feeding those in need in the Salem community. This person will also exhibit skills in management, handling volunteers, and dealing with the public. Persons interested should contact Pastor Alan Smearsoll, President of the Board, at 330-332-5042 no later than November 15. The third annual Camp Frederick Advent Celebration is scheduled for next Sunday, November 21, from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. at Camp Frederick. We will meet at the Lodge for crafts, wreath making, fellowship and worship. A light supper will be provided. Weather permitting, participants may choose to hike one of our new trails to gather natural materials for wreath making. Please wear appropriate clothing if you plan to do so. Advent Luncheon at Holy Trinity – Women of the ELCA from Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church are holding their Third Annual Advent Luncheon on Thursday, December 2 at noon. FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY Advent Dinner
is scheduled for Sunday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. Sign-ups can be found
in the narthex. Entertainment will be provided by the Stage Left
Players. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for children under 10.
Tickets can be purchased at the door. Don't forget the quilt raffle
winner will be announced during the dinner!YOUTH MINISTRY Please mark your calendar for the Annual Sunday School Christmas Program.
It is Sunday, December 12 at 6:00 pm in the church. We are looking for
volunteers to help with costumes for the play. If you can help make a
costume or have some we can borrow please let me know. We are looking

Emmanuel Lutheran Church Tutoring/After-School Program - Mondays & Wednesdays: 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Tuesdays: 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Send your child to receive homework help and/or to practice skills and engage in other fun activities such as crafts and games! To register your child contact Angela McCoy. Students must be registered prior to attending. Youth Night – November 21, 2010 - Join us in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00 p.m. for our Youth Night/Salem Kids Care Event! We will be making dog biscuits to donate to Alchemy Acres Animal Shelter. Refreshments will be served and all are encouraged to attend and bring guests to help at this community service event. FAMILY MINISTRY U.S. Ministry

McCoy. Fellowship Trip - Youth and Family Ministry and Congregational Life are sponsoring a Fellowship Trip to Beaver Valley Mall on Tuesday, November 30. We will be leaving at 9:00 a.m. and returning at approximately 4:00 p.m. The cost is $7.00 with lunch on your own. If you are interested in attending, please sign up on the sheet in the narthex by next Sunday, November 21. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Angela McCoy.
