On
Sunday, October 5 at the conclusion of the 10:30 worship, we will have
a special liturgy of dedication for all of the work that has been done
in our two buildings this past summer. The steeple was cleaned and
repaired. New roofing was put on the church. A new sound system was
installed. The front steps were repaired and a new sidewalk put in. The
Education Building has all new, energy efficient windows and Wi-Fi was
installed along with monitors and computers for use in the instruction
of the "tech" generation of today. Refreshments will be served in the
Fellowship Hall at the conclusion of the dedication service and
demonstrations of the new technology will be given in the parlor and in
the Sunday School opening room. Of course, with the exception of the steps, sidewalk, and electronic hardware (all funded through other sources and donations) none of this would have happened without the forethought of Richard Edling, whose generous bequest to Emmanuel upon his death has provided for these needed building improvements and has made possible the ability to communicate the Gospel effectively to young and old alike in this generation of high tech learning and sharing of information. $10,000 of this money has been set aside and a policy will be developed with the intent of giving to charitable causes until it is gone. Church Council feels that all of these projects truly honor Richard. Come on October 5 and give thanks for the blessings God has given us as we dedicate these improvements to the Glory of God.
