We invite you to join us:

Pastor John Gruneich joined us March 1st as our Interim Pastor for approximately one year. His first sermons were on March 1st and 2nd, and he was then installed on March 8th and 9th. By way of his introduction to our congregation, the following is a summary of his personal and professional information.

He was born in North Dakota, the son of a Presbyterian pastor and has two brothers and one sister. He has two grown sons, has lived in Ohio for more than 20 years, and now lives in Akron with his wife Sandy (a teacher). His hobbies are woodworking, reading, yard work, music, travel, sports (Vikings, Cavs, Ohio State) and walking. He will commute daily from Akron to Salem.

His formal education took place at Moorhead State, Vanderbilt, San Francisco Theological Seminary, and Southern Methodist University. He has also had extensive continuing education including special Interim Pastor training at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

He is an ordained Presbyterian minister and served as Pastor at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Akron for 13 years as well as two other churches. He then became interested in Interim Pastoral service and has just completed his 6th interim ministry at Faith Lutheran in Massillon, preceded by Our Savior Lutheran in Hinckley. Previously he spent more than a year at the Presbyterian Church in Lisbon, so he is already acquainted with Columbiana County.

He is highly qualified by his extensive training and experience; you will find him to be very personable, knowledgeable, professional, spiritual and thus well suited to serve as our worship leader and mentor as we make the transition from our former pastor to the calling of our new pastor. We are truly blessed that the Holy Spirit has brought us together, and, as Pastor John says, “as we prepare to move into the future to which Christ calls us.”
